From Stuttgart to Isegran

The first workshop at Isegran after the summer holidays was truly unique. Fourteen-year-old Emma had traveled with her family all the way from Stuttgart, Germany, to contribute. And how did she hear about the project? She had googled plastics in the ocean and hope, which returned one result that caught her attention: Hope Cathedral. She read our webpages and felt this was something she wanted to be a part of! We were so moved! Such a drive, such energy!

Grinding for the climate

This autumn we will be grinding plastic items that Dag Skottene and his team of helpers have collected along the coast of Norway and Sweden. The plastic will be tested before we use it to mold new roofing elements. The testing is done to make sure the roofing elements do not release microplastics. This is going to be an exciting process, which we will write more about in the time ahead.

Our workshops at Isegran are in full swing, and now we will have evening workshops as well, every Wednesday from 5 to 8PM.At the start of the workshop, we will serve hotdogs, so if you come straight from work, you can get a bite to eat first.

Roaring for climate

The roar for the climate is designed for the silent majority – the large portion of the population who know that the climate crisis is grave, but who for various reasons are not taking action. Friday, 30 August was the meet up day for a common “ROAAAR”! We did our own roar at the barge. Have a look here (Youtube)!

Hope Cathedral is an interfaith and sustainable art project. We’re building a cathedral with a wooden construction inspired by traditional Norwegian stave churches and blocks made out of plastic we have found in the sea. The cathedral becomes proof that we can transform something bad into something good - and is a groundbreaking meeting point between world heritage and modern art, between people across age, nationality and faith. Hope Cathedral will be a place for common effort in a world where we may feel isolated from others.
